Claims, coverage and confusing letters — explained in plain words.
Free — no account needed for your first conversation.
Insurance is one of the few things you pay for and still don't understand. The letters arrive full of words nobody uses at dinner — deductible, coinsurance, out-of-network, prior authorization — and the one thing you actually want to know ("what do I owe, and why?") is never on the first page.
Kafana reads it with you. Snap a photo of the letter, the explanation of benefits, or the policy page and ask. It explains what happened in plain words, what the numbers mean, and — if a claim was denied — what your appeal options usually look like, including a draft appeal letter you can adapt.
It's free, and your first conversation doesn't even need an account. Ask the question the way you'd ask a friend.
my insurance says the ER visit wasn't "medically necessary" and denied the claim. can they do that??
They can deny it — but that's the start of the process, not the end. "Not medically necessary" is one of the most commonly overturned denial reasons: you have the right to appeal, and the denial letter must explain how. Send me a photo of the letter and I'll walk you through what it says and draft the appeal with you.

Questions & answers
Is the insurance helper really free?
Yes. Kafana runs on excellent open AI models, so there is no subscription and no card on file. Your first conversation doesn't even need an account.
Can it read my insurance letter or EOB?
Yes — attach a photo of the letter, denial notice or explanation of benefits and ask about it. Kafana explains what it says in plain language. Cover any details you'd rather not share; it only sees what you send.
Can it tell me exactly what my policy covers?
It can explain what policy language means and what terms like deductible or prior authorization do, but only your insurer can confirm your specific coverage. Use Kafana to understand the documents and prepare the right questions before you call.
Is this professional insurance or legal advice?
No — it's plain-language help understanding your documents and options. For decisions about coverage, always confirm with your insurer or a licensed agent.
Kafana explains insurance in plain language — it isn't an insurer, broker or lawyer, and it can't see your policy. Confirm anything important with your insurance company or a licensed agent.
